nascent 3G network recently. They’ve lit-up their 1700Mhz spectrum of 3G goodness in a smattering of cities across the US, but the US wireless carrier has been tight-lipped as to whether or not its 3G-compatible handsets are indeed 3G capable on T-Mobile’s AWS 1700Mhz 3G network. Today we’re getting more details on T-Mobile’s latest 3G handset - the Sony Ericsson TM506 Bella.Last we heard, the Sony Ericsson TM506 was headed to T-Mobile in your choice of two color schemes. The Bella, as it’s known internally, was expected to land on T-Mobile’s network with a 2 megapixel camera, aGPS, Bluetooth 2.0, and myFaves support - with a tri-band (850/1800/1900Mhz) GSM/EDGE radio. We speculated that the Sony Ericsson TM506 Bella would hit T-Mobile with a dual-band 3G radio in tow, but previous promotional materials left us wondering if T-Mobile was ever going to take the 3G-wraps off the SE Bella.
Well, T-Mobile has confirmed that their upcoming Sony Ericsson TM506 Bella will indeed be launching with a a dual-band (1700/2100Mhz) 3G radio to pull down wireless data at near-broadband speeds. The slim and stylish clamshell is expected to deliver 9.5 hours worth of talk time on GSM networks, with 3G calling good for 3.5 hours.
As expected, T-Mobile should launch the Sony Ericsson TM506 in early September. Pricing information is still not available.

Last we heard, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 was slated to go live during the second half of 2008 (with some rumors pointing to a UK launch in October-November) - a vague enough launch window to ensure that Sony Ericsson could cover its behind should they run in to development problems.
Today, it looks like Sony Ericsson was right to keep us all guessing as to exactly when the XPERIA X1 would usher in a new age of high-end smartphones. We

So let’s take contract devices first:
Not surprisingly the Tocco has made an appearance at the top of the chart, but it closely followed by Nokia’s star performers, the 6500 Slide, and N95 8GB. Nokia and Samsung also have a smattering of other devices each, comprising most of the rest of the Top 10.
As regards Prepay, it looks kinda like this:
Samsung again occupy the top of the chart, but after that, it’s Nokia and old favourite Sony Ericsson all the way… a real mixture of older devices, plus newer budget ones in there too!

The service will include 1mn tracks from Sony BMG (not a surprise!), Warner, and EMI. The Nordics (again, not a surprise) will be getting first crack at this, followed by the rest of Europe later in the year - and then globally in 2009.
PlayNow has some stiff competition though in the form of iTunes, and also Nokia’s various interweb offerings. One big weapon in the armoury is that the tracks will be DRM-free (yay!). Bring it on I say, the sooner we can get good choons and games on our SE Mobys, the sooner we’ll be truly free (or something like that….)!

Sony Ericsson Bella for some time, and the slick clamshell should do well with aGPS, web-feeds reader (RSS, podcasts, news), 2 megapixel camera, and support for 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) on the 1700Mhz and 2100Mhz frequency bands.
W760 to the country. However, the image on left is everything but a reliable indicator that will actually happen. I would say the bare fact that the W760a model (where “a” stands for America) exists says more about Sony Ericsson plans than the small logo on the device. After all, you don’t have to be a Photoshop master to make that image. Simple pasting the AT&T’s circle is about all it takes…
