Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 hands-on
That's right folks, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has been given the grubby once-over by the Boy Genius. Boy Genius. As the highest-end, and most anticipated, smartphone in Sony Ericsson's near-term pipeline, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 has seen more than its fair share of the light that is lime.

And, just to make sure the rest of us are drooling with envious lust, Boy Genius has posted their own hands-on review of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 - replete with device impressions and photos. The XPERIA brand represents the highest end of Sony Ericsson's "converged device" market, and as such, it get high marks for all its techno-wizardry. The optical joystick is apparently peachy keen, as is the gloriously wide 800×480 WVGA display. And, with UMTS/HSDPA in tow to make wireless data transfers on Windows MObile 6.1 a breeze, the XPERIA X1 is apparently a joy to use - despite the fact that the Boy Genius's pre-production version of the XPERIA X1 tended to bog down a bit.

First-impressions aren't the end-all-be-all when it comes to handset reviews, but this pre-production XPERIA X1 scored low marks in the QWERTY-keyboard department. That snazzy, arc-sliding QWERTY keyboard is apparently not as easy to use as it was cracked up to be. Lack of feedback is mentioned as the keyboard's worst attribute - interesting, because our own (limited) time with the XPERIA X1 left us with a positive impression of the solid keyboard and sliding mechanism.

Hit up Boy Genius for the rest of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 gallery - sans Sony Ericsson's Panel UI, of course.

BeiBei, Paris, Shino and now another device is included in the mix. A handset codenamed "Alicia" is a stylish Walkman clamshell with two displays. And while we don't have enough information about this phone at the moment, we do know its outer screen won't be used only for displaying caller ID — it will feature some nice Walkman animations or the current weather condition, changing the theme depending on the time of the day. In addition, we know this baby will support TrackID and will be capable to playback both music and video files.

Finally, before I let you go, you should see the first demo video of the device. It just arrived and it's waiting for you after the jump. Enjoy!

Touted as the company's first motion gaming enabled phone (even though the W910i and K850i also have built-in accelerometers), the F305 is the quad-band GSM + EDGE handset. It has dedicated gaming buttons around its 2-inch 176×220 screen, and loud stereo speakers on the back to make the gaming experience more enjoyable. There's also Bluetooth support, 2 megapixel camera, Memory Stick Micro (M2) slot, FM radio, music player with TrackID support. Three games come pre-loaded with the device - Bowling, Bass fishing, and Jockey. The Sony Ericsson F305 is a low-to-mid range device, measuring 96×47×14.6 mm and weighing 97.5 grams. It will be available in "select markets" in Q3 2008, in "Polar White" and "Mystic Black."

On the other hand, the quad-band GSM+EDGE Sony Ericsson S302 will be sold as an affordable camera phone. It has the same screen as the F305, and also comes with Bluetooth support, FM Radio, 2 megapixel camera and memory card slot. The S302 is the first device in the new Sony Ericsson's series - Snapshot. It measures 101×46×11, weighs 79 grams and will be available in "Thunder Grey" and "Crystal Blue" in Q4 this year.

In addition to new phones, the Sony Ericsson will also unveil new Bluetooth headsets - HBH-PV-715, HBH-PV-720 (supports StyleUp covers) and HBH-PV-740 (features a status display).

up and running, we're eager to see T-Mobile bring some serious 1700Mhz 3G-compatible handsets into their stable. Some eagle-eyed detective work by Cellphonesignal has uncovered FCC documents that clue us in to a new T-Mobile 3G handset - the Sony Ericsson Bella.

We're looking for T-Mobile to pick up the Sony Ericsson Bella as the Sony Ericsson TM506, with support for T-Mobile's own special flavor of 3G. The Sony Ericsson TM506 Bella should drop with support for dual-band 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) frequencies - specifically, the 1700Mhz and 2100Mhz bands that T-Mobile's AWS 3G network requires.

And, to make sure this tri-band (850/1800/1900Mhz) GSM clamshell doesn't disappoint, T-Mobile's Sony Ericsson TM506 will be packed with a decent feature-set. A quick look at the user-guide shows that the Sony Ericsson TM506 will sport aGPS, a web-feeds reader (RSS, podcasts, news), and a 2 megapixel camera.

        Bring on the 1700Mhz 3G goodness, T-Mobile!
